Amidst the novel coronavirus pandemic, we still need to work. A total shutdown of the huge companies, businesses, education isn’t possible. And this is where “work-from-home” comes into play.
A certain amount of people know how it is to work remotely because either they prefer to do so or maybe it’s just how their job is. But because of this extremely dangerous and deadly pandemic, we all have been forced to work from home and that is something many of us cannot seem to come to terms with.
We find ourselves sleeping in late, spending more time with our families or lazing around – checking our phones from time to time or flipping through the channels. This has greatly affected our lives, as we don’t know how to efficiently work from home. So, what steps should we take to ensure our full dedication to our work? Or how to be less awkward when you’re video conferencing with your coworkers?
And just like every problem has a solution this problem has one too. The following are the tips that you can follow to make sure that the standard of your work quality doesn’t go down.
Follow a proper schedule
The first and foremost trick to work expertly from home is to make a plan. Jot down all your tasks for the day including family time, tea time, etc. designating a slot for your work as well and make sure to follow it. This will allow your body clock to be set accordingly and will help you in focusing on your work.
Have a proper workplace
Having an appropriate place to set up your office is one of the most essential things. Be it a corner or a proper office – this step must not be overlooked at any cost. This will help you in distancing yourself from your home-life and will allow you to realize that this is the time to work and get things done.
Light is your best friend, remember that. Even if you’re just working on a laptop, you need to have a certain amount of light to work. Plus, if you’re video conferencing or anything like that, you need to have adequate light to allow your peers and colleagues to see your facial expressions.
Do not practice social distancing online
Social distancing and isolation are the two words we all have heard a lot of times during this outbreak. We all are cooped up inside our homes, away from our friends and peers and this has indeed taken a toll on us. Hence to keep yourself normal and focused on your work, socialize with your peers online. Talk to them, ask them about their schedules – this will help you stay connected.
Limit your distractions
While working make sure to ask your family members not to disturb you at all – be it the latest update on COVID-19 or anything that’s a “trivial” family issue, they just have to stay away from you while you work. Limiting distractions can make you work with dedication, allowing you to finish up your tasks in time.
Be safe online
Working online can be scary if you haven’t taken the necessary precautions. We all know about cybercrime, voice spoofing, hacking, etc. and we all are well aware of the fact that this can ruin the peace of our lives in a matter of a few minutes. To make sure that you don’t fall prey to all these, make sure to update your DNS settings, encryption, firewall, and gear and to use a VPN to secure your connection.
These are hard times and we all are coping up with them in our ways. This basic guideline was to help you formulate a proper schedule with tricks and techniques to follow it. Happy Working From Home!
